Tim Leiner, Ph.D., M.D. is a Radiology Fellow of Cardiovascular MR Research at Maastricht University Hospital and the Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht (CARIM) in Maastricht, The Netherlands. After obtaining his Ph.D he completed post-doctoral research fellowships at the Angiogenesis Research Center at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center / Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, NH, and at the Cardiac MR Center at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center / Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA.
Dr. Leiner’s present research interests center around the development and implementation of MR angiographic techniques for imaging peripheral arterial and coronary artery disease. His research projects include studies on imaging of the lower and upper extremity vasculature, the renal and coronary arteries, MR imaging of the coronary and carotid vessel wall and MR imaging of neovasculature, in particular differentiation of arteriogenesis from angiogenesis.
Dr. Leiner is a member of the ISMRM, ECR, RSNA and AHA. He has served as faculty member at the annual meetings of the ISMRM, ESMRMB, SCMR, ECR, and RSNA and has actively participated in the annual meetings of the Dutch Radiological Society. He serves on the European Radiology Editorial Board and is assistant editor of the ISMRM Pulse newsletter. He also acts a reviewer for many international scientific journals in the fields of magnetic resonance imaging, radiology, vascular surgery and cardiology. Dr. Leiner has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and proffered contributions for international congresses, mainly the ISMRM.
